Frequently Asked Questions

You may wonder if the Galleri test is suitable for you, especially if you don’t have a family history of cancer. Contrary to popular belief, cancer risk increases with age, regardless of family history. Adults over 50 are significantly more prone to cancer than younger individuals. Consult your healthcare provider to assess your cancer risk and whether the Galleri test aligns with your needs.

No, the Galleri test doesn’t predict future cancer risk like a genetic risk assessment. Instead, it detects signals associated with active cancer at the time of the test. While genetic tests evaluate lifelong cancer risk, they can’t diagnose current cancer. Our vision for Galleri is an annual cancer screening tool to complement standard screenings, enhancing early detection.

The Galleri test’s accuracy is remarkable, with an anticipated “Cancer Signal Detected” result in about 1% of individuals over 50. In a recent study, 4 out of 10 people with this result received a cancer diagnosis upon further testing, while only 1 out of 200 individuals without cancer showed the same signal. The Positive Predictive Value stood at 43%, with a False Positive rate of 0.5%.
